Helping communities connect, act and thrive.
A progressive business man and civic leader, Frank Gannett led with a vision to create a network of news organizations linking communities and empowering readers to effect positive change. He established the Gannett Newspapers Foundation in 1935 to further support his beliefs.
Today, the Gannett Foundation carries out his vision by investing in community building initiatives which positively impact the neighborhoods we share and by providing opportunities for our employees to give to and volunteer for causes important to them.
With our consumers, business partners and employees we are one community, building a better tomorrow together.
The Gannett Foundation supports communities across the country focusing on neighborhoods where Gannett Media Corp. does business. In addition, the Foundation supports the development of diversity in the journalism field, invests in issues important to our employees, and provides opportunities and a national platform for consumers to raise up ideas and community solutions.
Backing up our corporate purpose to help communities connect, act and thrive, the Foundation’s A Community Thrives Program links ideas and solutions with funding.
Gannett Foundation supports employees with matching grants, paid volunteer time off, and volunteer grants.
